How to access your account

  • Follow the link to our online catalogue.
  • Bookmark this for easy access!
  • Click the green LOGIN button.
  • Enter your library card number (if you have a card starting with the numbers 24444 do not enter the last digit) or your last name. Enter your personal PIN and click enter.
  • Scroll down to see what is currently out on your account.

Searching the catalogue

  • Scroll to bottom of the page to choose which catalogue you would like to search – All (both Almonte and Pakenham) or only Almonte or only Pakenham.
  • Click on the word HOME (beside the L4U logo). You can then search our catalogue.
  • Enter your search. If you hit the return key you will be searching keywords. If you want to specify only titles or only authors or only subjects, click on the appropriate icon to limit your search after you have entered what you are searching for. The resulting list will include title, author, call number, if the item is in or out and what BRANCH you will find it in.
    • By clicking on the column heading you can sort these results by that heading.
    • By clicking on the title you can see when that item is due back if it is currently out. You can then also place this item on reserve.

    • By entering videorecording in the search field after the title or phrase you are searching on, you will return only results for DVDs and video recordings (eg ‘Star Wars videorecording’
  • Click on RENEW items. Follow the buttons to renew. PLEASE NOTE: Some of our dvds will indicate no reserves/no renewals.  These are new to the library.  Once it has been in our collection for 6 months you will be able to reserve and renew it.
  • Click on the purple My Profile button to return to your front page.
  • Click on Reserves to see what you have on reserve. You can cancel reserved items here.
  • Click on the purple My Profile button to return to your front page.
  • Click on My History to view your borrowing history. Any of the column headings can be clicked and the items will be sorted by that field.
  • Click on the purple My Profile button to return to your front page.

Reserving an item

An item that you’ve had before

If you would like to place a reserve on an item that you have had in the past go to your history. You can move any of these items into your bookbag by clicking on them and Update Bookbag. You can reserve items from your bookbag by clicking on the title and clicking the Place a Reserve button.  We will notify  you when it is available for pick-up.

An item you’ve never had before

If you would like an item you have never had and it is part of our collection, click on the word HOME (beside the L4U logo). You can then search our catalogue. Click on the title you wish to reserve. Click on the blue Place a Reserve button in the centre of the screen. Click on the blue Place a Reserve button at the bottom to confirm.

PLEASE NOTE – We cannot reserve items for a specific day. Please do not fill in the “requested for” dates.

We will notify you when your reserved items are ready for you to pick up.

The Bookbag

If you have moved items into your bookbag – access your bookbag by clicking on the blue Bookbag button between the purple My Profile and the red Logout buttons. This will only appear if you have something in your bookbag.

Why would you move items into your Bookbag? You could create your own personal list of books that you want to read at some point. You could create a list of books that you need for an upcoming project. You can email this list to yourself so that you can pull the books from the Library shelves in your next visit. You can also reserve items from this list.

You may have noticed in your searching that there is a button RATE THIS ITEM. Feel free to click on this button and rate the item!

Accessing your account at the library

When you are at the Library, you can login to your account – just like at home. PLEASE REMEMBER to logout before you leave that computer. If you don’t, everyone will have access to your account!
