NEW ART SHOW AT THE CHAMBERS GALLERY, ALMONTE, ON
R.R. 2, Dunrobin, Ontario
Born in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1953, Karl’s lived in various parts of Canada and spent four years in northern France. His affinity with the unspoiled landscape of the Ottawa Valley began after settling there in the early 1960’s.
Whether canoeing in Algonquin Park, cross country skiing in the Gatineau or hiking near his home/studio in the Carp Hills near Ottawa, he finds inspiration around every corner. Those moments when light, colour and form come together from our great Canadian landscape provide the spiritual orchestration.
Karl studied commercial and fine art at Algonquin College,
the Ottawa School of Art, Schneiders School of Art in Actinolite, Ontario and numerous watercolourists workshops over the years.
He has received many awards and his paintings hang in private collections across Canada and the United States as well as Italy and Australia. In 1996 he was awarded a fellowship in the Ottawa Watercolour Society. A member of the West Carleton Art Society, Karl is also a juried member of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery, the Kanata Art Club and the Moth Gallery in Merrickville, Ontario.
He is on the executive committee of the popular Red Trillium Studio Tour which he participates in every spring and fall. In addition he is on the executive committee and participates in the new Art West show.
Karl is now in the process of being juried into and joining the new “Art on Sparks Gallery” opening soon in downtown Ottawa.
In these troubled times of our world, we should be reflecting more on nature, being soothed and relaxed by its calmness, taking an interest in it’s organization…it’s ability to survive.” Karl Kischel
