Current Artist: Jacquie Christiani

Current Artist: 4 January – 8 February 2016

The watercolour paintings of Jacquie Christiani are on exhibit from January  4 to February 8, 2016 at the Corridor Gallery, Mississippi Mills Public Library,  Almonte Branch, 155 High Street, Almonte, Ontario.

JACQUIE CHRISTIANI was introduced to watercolour painting over 30 years ago when she decided to take an evening art course at a local community centre in Edmonton Alberta. Over the years, learning the techniques to control the watercolour was always within the boundary of a rectangular piece of paper. She described it as a love/hate relationship. In 2003 when she found pictures of mandalas in reading material, she was attracted to the repetitive designs drawn in a circle. She drew a circle on a piece of paper, started painting and in that moment a whole new world opened up for her. Her paintings were transformed and she found her unique creative expression working in partnership with watercolour.

“Walking in nature awakens a memory or connection that I am inspired to share. Colours and impressions of nature form in my head as I experience the outdoors. As I paint, other images emerge as the watercolour pigment flows through and with the water. I apply the pencil over the dried application of watercolour to highlight the subtleties of the images revealed to me.”
